My Father

I just returned from a trip to Mobile, to be with my family, particularly my father, for his 70th birthday celebration.  It was a great time with everyone, the highlight being a rather large celebration for my father on Sat night at a local seafood restaurant, where we had rented out a party room for our use.  There was a seafood buffet, which I  enjoyed as I can't get that kind of stuff up here in the mid-west.  There was lots of laughter, conversation, hugs, reunions with dear old family friends, etc.  After dinner, there was a slideshow to music that I had put together with the help from everyone in the family, with the 70 things we love about our dad.  It turned out well, and my father was honored!

I wanted to recap a few of those things here, things I love about Dad.  He is a wonderfully selfless, generous man.  He's worked endlessly to share Christ with the world, through the Church, the parish, the community, People of Praise, and in his neighborhood.  He has always been a shining example in the area of fitness and exercise, encouraging us over the years to exercise regularly and leading the way by his example.  He has an eclectic love of music, and speakers (you only have to go to his house to understand that one!)  He taught my children science for years, sharing his love and passion with them.  He is an optimist, and always thinks the best and speaks the best of any person or situation.  This is just a few of the things shared about him.  I am so grateful to the Lord that he gave me such a father to lead our family.

Thank you, Lord!
